Aunt Amanda Roberts of Salt Lake was a weekend guest of Bill and Mary Sweeney. She celebrated her birthday with them. Jim Louder was happy to have his sons Jerry and Raymond and families call on him to wish him happy birthday. The Elgin Loud-e- rs called on the phone to wish him the best. Zettie .Smithies has enjoyed so much a visit from Alvin and Ruby Smithies of Seattle, Wash., last week. Ivy Padfield was so surprised and happy Tuesday night when the Mia Maids under the direction of Miss Allmendinger brought enchiladas, salad and homemade ice cream to have a rousing good time with Ivy. John and Rose Bigelow along with Kip are vacationing in Houston, Texas with son Ron and family, getting acquainted with their new grandchild. Lorene McNeil, Kim Kum-ag- ai and Cathy Larsen all attended leadership convention at the extension service in Logan last week. Lyla Page is visiting in fare. Carl Smith was so pleased to have his mother, Mr. and Mrs. Den Renoma of Compton, Calif, spend some time visiting with him and Otpha and family. Sgt. Scott and Linda Russell are rejoicing over the arrival of a son, born Oct. 17 at Summit County Hospital. The wee lad weighed 6 lb. 3 oz. and will be called Adam Price Russell. Christie is waiting at home to welcome the new little brother. Grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Dale Peterson of Redmond, and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Black are all smiles as are Mr. and Mrs. Doug Simpson, Kamas and Byron Winters, Coalville. Congratulations Scott and Linda. The G. Reed Marchants were happy to have a visit from their granddaughter, Cherole Hide of Kenzington, Maryland, who is attending school at BYU. Myrtle Pitt joined Lydia great-grandpare- Carpenter in a fun trip out there. This weekend Claude came home and they all went deer hunting. The Claude MaxweU family visited last week in Duchesne with Cla ude who is working Roy Sheriff Names ' New Deputy Summit County Sheriff Ron Robinson announced this week that Louis A. "Lou . Stevens had been appointed as a deputy sheriff. ' The new deputy replaces Arlo Snyder who resigned to accept other employment. Deputy Stevens is a 1970 graduate of North Summit High School where he played football and basketball. He was also born and raised in Summit County. Prior to joining the Sum- mit County Sheriffs department he was engaged in mink ranching. He and his wife Annette are the parents of a two-ye- ar old daughter. Stevens will begin an intensive course in law enforcement procedures and training October 31 at Weber State College. Wool-stenhul- alus-clo- us catfish dinner at the Tom James cabin up the Weber. Stephen Raff has been here doing his student teaching in the Kamas Elementary School. He returns to complete his schooling at BYU. Under the Cost Improvement Program, a patient is allowed after being reviewed by two doctors, to remain in the hospital at a reduced rate. After the acute level of care (three days are required) a patient may be classified as needingfurther medical observation. Each of these levels are available at reduced rates, according to their needs. Many patients may need only a few more days of care after their acute illness has subsided. The hospital supervisory staff contacts the state people in chargB of the program, explains their needs, and is given an additional number erf days. In some Instances there may be a need for several authorizations. The patients needs must be approved and deemed necessary. This program is not limited to Medicare patients only. They may use the program on a personal basis. November 7. Wendy is the daughter of Dean and Ivaloo Rees. She is a graduate of North Summit High School, and has attended Brigham Young University for three years.
