Leon Pexton, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of Utah Municipal Power Agency in Spanish Fork, received the American Public Power Association's (APPA) James D. Donovan Individual Achievement Award at the Association's national conference in New Orleans, La. The award was initiated in 1959 and recognizes those who have made great individual contributions to the electric utility industry and to public power. Pexton has been active- River Energy Distributors Association, chairing the Rates Committee and cochairing the Special Projects and Operations committees. Pexton has testified numerous times before state legislative committees and task forces on utility issues, including electric deregulation, power system operation and transmission operation. On the federal level, he has represented UMPA on power marketing administration, environmental and energy policy issues since 1994.
