(11/7) Jenna Anderson SFHS Recently the Spanish Fork FFA chapter and other FFA chapters from around the country traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana for the FFA National Convention. One lady commented to some FFA members that she thought this convention was just a bunch of hicks getting together and partying. It is actually a really convention where we learn leadership skills, listen to motivational speakers, the national officers give retiring addresses, and many other fun experiences. This convention lasted for five days. Over those five days the chapter members went to sessions, went on agrelated tours, and then got to tour the city of Indianapolis.. On this trip our chapter and its members received some awards. Our chapter received the national chapter award, and four of our chapter members received their American Degree's which is the highest degree that you can receive in the FFA. Allie Armstrong one of our members that went on the trip shared her experience. "National Convention was an awesome experience. We were able to meet FFA members from all over the country. Every day was something new. From buffalo and elk farms, to concerts and comedy dinners. Although waking up at 5:30 a.m. wasn't that great, the sessions were worth it. We heard from great speakers and I was able to learn what FFA is all about. The trip was a great experience and made me proud to be a FFA member," ' she said. My experience at National was great. At first I was expecting it to all be fun but it wasn't. Yeah there was boring parts,, but everything can't be a joy ride. The boring parts were worth it because every time I was bored in a session, I always came out of it learning something. By the end of the trip I was so tired with the early mornings, late nights, and the time charge, but this whole trip was so worth it. I learned a lot, and got to know the people that went from our chapter a little bit better. The FFA is a great organization and you get so much out of it. I so glad that I'm involved in the FFA.
