This was a fabulous experience for all of us here Then on Sunday, a patriotic program was given In Sunday School, the theme being God Shed His Grace on Thee. In the evening the Primary Organization gave a very interesting program to commemorate the Marlin B Brown Publisher matter October 6, 1944 at the Entered as second-clas- s post office in Kanab, Utah, under the Act of March 3, 1879. If the traveling public's needs cant be met -then well see an Influx of new motels like that of St. George. This year is unique - greater numbers of visitors from Europe, tours taking over whole motel facilities several nights each week, the Kalparowits news publicity bringing many tourists, and of course the extra tourists as a result of 1976 being a Bicentennial year. In the past, rooms in private homes were made available so people wouldnt have to sleep in their cars. We realize there is a difference today. Many people have a fear of strangers in their midst; however, as motel owners and managers know, most travelers are great and would never be a problem. If you have a camper, small trailer andor a private room in your home and would bewilUngtoprovide qualified tourists with sleeping quarters and receive a nominal fee then call after 1:00 p.m, for Information. We suggest a meeting of both those in the motel business and those neighbors who would be interested. Like the rumor of nogas in 1974 seriously hurt the tourist industry of that year, rumors of no rooms in Kanab would 644-26- .. . 11 really hurt our image. If people dont come forth and provide havens for stranded travelers, then the community should provide an arfea in ..schools, churches or parks. This is going to be a serious problem in the Immediate future unless steps are taken now. National studies Indicate that European travelers like first to visit Washington, and second on their list is the Grand Canyon, which brings them to our doorstep. All motels in the immediate area should be filled but when they are full and overflowing, then it would be first, well for their needs to be met in private homes. The ManU Utah Stake is preparing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Mormon Miracle Pageant. Rehearsals have been underway since June 1, scenery is being refurnished, costumes constructed and plans completed for parking, seating and feeding the 110,000 visitors ex- pected. They will attend the pageants eight nighUy performances on Temple Hill In Mantl July 8, 9 and 10 and then resuming July 13 through 17. Curtain time each evening will be at dusk. The cast of 350 is rehearsing for the performances under the direction of Macksene Rux, Salt Lake City theater personality. Her assistants again are Jane Braithwalte and Helen Dyreng.
