Since candidates of the Taxpayers party filed for office Friday afternoon it is rumored that this is my party and these Whatever I say in these few lines will not change some are my candidates. people's opinion, but the truth is that during the formulation of this group I had no definite knowledge who would file or if any new filings for office would I had no knowledge of any person who signed any of the applicatake place. tions of support for any candidate. I did, however, hear the names of people who might run for office and I talked with them personally that I might report my findings in the news. I am not concerned with any particular party or candidate. My real interest in the mayorality and council race has always been, and will always be, that good citizens, honest and trustworthy file for public office. In a city of 9,000 people, no candidate, or candidates should ever be elected by default, or because public interest in good government has collapsed. Good - clean - competitive - qualified candidates presenting their views in good faith so the voter may choose according to their own convictions should be the prime consideration in any election campaign. I have known each of these candidates, in and out of office, for many years. I consider each and every one of them some of the finest men I have ever known. Each in his own right, from my personal knowledge is a good, honest, productive citizen. Each worthy of public support and qualified to serve in public office. Each one has given yeas of service in church, political and community programs without thought of monetary consideration. Each one is a family man, a taxpayer and a producer. I consider each one a home-ownof them a friend. I will look forward, in the next two weeks, remaining, to a campaign on a high plane. Each candidate telling his own story, in his own way, without castigating, disparaging or belittling any other candidate, or person as to his qualifications or character. All of these candidates are my people. I respect and honor them. I wish them well. All cannot win, but whomever is elected I will honor them in their office, and support them in their united decisions for the good of the city and her people.
