Society Notes Annual Meeting of Pea-Growe- rs The annual meeting of the Association was held last Monday, Jan. 21, 1924. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, A. W. Chambers, L. D. Smithfield; Vice-PresSecy.-TreasMcBride, Hyrum; John Matkin, Hyde Park. Board Members John Spack-maRichmond; Jos. R. Bair, Providence; John Scott, Millville; Allen Archibald, Wellsville. The President announces that the Association is now ready to consider terms, and enter into a contract with the Manufacturers for the 1924 pea crop. Con- reported the scout activities of the stake for the past year. Two recently returned missionaries, Elders Vernon Maughan of Wellsville, and W. N. Thomas of Paradise, reported their labors Apostle Smith then addressed the saints assembled, giving some timely instructions to them in line of their duties and in keeping the commandments of God. The choir sang an anthem and Elder Eugene Welch of Paradise offered the benediction. The Y. M. and Y. L. M. I. As. met conjointly in the evening at 7 p. m. After the opening exercises a fine musical program was rendered consisting of a piano solo by Melvin Lemen of Hyrum, a duet by Parley Hall and Pearl Brenchley of Wellsville, and a vocal solo by Mrs. Frank of Millville. Prin. Orson Ryan of the Logan sehools then gave an excellent talk on Leadership, which was highly appreciated by all present. Meeting closed by singing and benediction by Elder Jon Baxter. All the meetings were well attended and a spiritual treat was enjoyed ference, held Sat. and Sunday, Jan. 12th and 13th, at 3rd ward assembly hall, was probably one of the best and most profitable ever held in Hyrum Stake. Conf. convened Saturday morning at 10 .a. m., the Sat. and Sunday morning sessions being devoted to special priesthood meetings, and were addressed by Apostle Joseph F. Smith., Jr., who instructed and forcibly encouraged the bretheren to liver their religion and magnify their calling in the priesthood, which was the main theme of all the speakers during ' conference. Saturday at 10 a. m. ,the Relief Society Sisters met at the 1st ward chapel where interesting progrms were carried out both at the morning and afternoon sessions. The Priesthood met again Sunday morning at 10 a. m., with Pres. J. B. White, presiding. Meeting commeneed by singing Come all ye sons of God and prayer by Wm. Brenchley.
