Show THE DYNAMITERS Americans have been accustomed to look upon Dynamiters as true patriots in countries oppressed by autocrats and ground down by immense masses of soldiers sol-diers and heavy taxation Americans have looked upon Russia as their true home and have felt for those who were at war with the social and political conditions con-ditions of that country a sympathy as being be-ing heroes in the strife for a recognition of the rights of man Such being the idea and conception ofl Nihilist or Dynamiter in Russia that conception has been transferred all who assumed these names but that conception and the sympathy sym-pathy arising from it when transferred to the Dynamiter of America have been wrongly bestowed The Dynamiter of the United States may be termed a fiend in human form who would commit com-mit wholesale murder upon innocent inno-cent people to gratify a personal These wrong or an individual grudge men who talk so loudly and so glibly of the rights of humanity and the blessings of liberty are the enemies of society in all its forms and that which would be mostcongenial to their souls would be anarchy and bloodshed that their fiendish souls might be glutted and their hellish instincts gratified Among the Nihilists of Russ there have been noble and heroic men and women who have indeed in-deed suffered for humanitys sake but none such are found among the Dynamiters of America They may aptly apt-ly be described as the offspring of the Molly Maguires but with all their instincts in-stincts and tendencies intensified These men are nearer to Utah than we think and already Denver is largely infested with them Only last Friday an attempt was made in Denver to wreck a passenger train and by the merest accident in the world did the design of the Dynamiters miscarry It was expected by the Dynamiters Dyn-amiters that when the explosion took place the engine would stop suddenly and that the momentum of the train which was running at a high rate of speed would be such as to pile all the cars one upon the other Very fortunately for-tunately no lives were lost nor any harm done But this is the third attempt since last May says the Daily News of Denver to blow up a part of the Denver and Rio Grande road and kill passengers travel ing on it As the News says something I must he done as in the very nature of I things it is almost impossible for the officers offi-cers of the law to catch the villains who place dynamite cartridges on the railway I tracks in the very act that form of crime is easily covered up and detection is most difficult Such questions assume a very serious form for the crines of the Dynamiters are crimes against society and l civilization The most stringent laws should be passed for their prevention and the punishment of those found guilty should be summary I There may even come a time when protection pro-tection for life and property may become paramount to all else |
