Show funeral held in first ward sunday for earl madsen impressive funeral services were held sunday afternoon in the first ward for earl madsen 38 who died of a lingering illness at his home here the night of august 26 96 bishop enoch R larson presided at the services speakers were joseph A smith and ferdinand erickson of Mon rooe old friends of the madsen family at monroe and F M ogden of the sevier stake presidency two appropriate poems were read at the services one by mrs david J shape speare of panguitch an aunt of mrs madsen and the other an original poem by mrs joe anderson a cousin of mrs madsen musical numbers were sometime well understand sung by a quartet composed of mrs vern blomquist mrs M H davis H B mendenhall and donald hansen with mrs lizzle lizzie hansen as aa accompanist jesus lover of my sung by the quartet with mrs airs blomquist and mr mendenhall taking the duet part an instrumental selection rock of ages by leroy hatch alten chidester glen meyer and martin peterson members of an orchestra in which mr madsen bad played and a vocal solo going home by miss merlyn hansen accompanied by mrs lizzle lizzie hansen the invocation was waa by wm win G black the benediction by john H ence owen M ogden dedicated the grave interment being in the city cemetery pallbearers Pall bearers were leroy hatch alton alten chidester glen meyer martin peterson lyle wilkinson and earl woolley there were many beautiful floral tributes mr madsen was born bom at monroe november 26 1897 a son of niels and agusta anderson madsen he lived at monroe until his mar marriage ariage on november 10 1934 at richfield to nellie dickinson after f their marriage the couple made their home in richfield mr madsen was well known for his work with orchestras in which he played the banjo and guitar and also sang surviving mr madsen are his wife three daughters delaine edna edn and ora dean a son J earl all of richfield and five brothers andrew madsen of meridian idaho ed madsen of worland wyoming charles madsen of st george frank and arvin madsen andrew ed and charles madsen visited their brother this summer during his illness but none of the brothers was able to come for the services A number of relatives from panguitch and monroe attended |
