Club HE beautiful garden of 141 West Second South Provo Business and Professional Women's club tea, Saturday Satur-day afternoon. The charming social function prettily arranged in , every detail, was attended by 250 women. Mrs. Maud Neeley Leaver of Salt Lake City, president of the state federation, was a special guest, and members of the Heber Salt Lake and St. George clubs attended. Members of the following Provo women's literary and civic clubs and organizations were included in the guest list: Utah Sorosis, Beta Sorosis, Ladies' Literary, Fine Arts, Nelk6 Reading and Nineteenth Century clubs, the Literary League, B. Y. U. Women, P. H.9 -: S. Women, American Legion auxiliary. Women's Council, Alice Louise Reynolds Club sections and board members of the Utah stake Relief society and Utah stake Y. W. M. I. A. Mrs. Mary F. Smith, retiring president; Mrs. Ethel D. Ram-beau, Ram-beau, president-elect; Mrs. Maud Neeley Leaver, state president, i and Miss Lora Dunn, chairman of the tea, were in the receiving line, and members of the club assisted in welcoming the guests and serving the tasty refreshments. The table was covered with a lovely Italian cutwork cloth in an ivory shade, and was centered center-ed with a profusion of beautiful pink roses and sweet peas and blue delphinium. On either sde, a trail of myrtle led to a handsome white statuette of a period design, and dropped rose petals lent the finishing touch. Bright-colored garden chairs, lounges and swings, and a variety of gay umbrellas, beach balls and pillows added to the attractiveness attractive-ness of the flower-filled garden. Music was played during the afternoon by Miss Francell Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, xylophone; Miss Rowena Christensen, violin, and Owen Bingham, cello. Miss Lora Dunn, chairman, was assisted by Miss Dorothy Stewart Stew-art and Miss Barbara Paxman in arranging the smart affair. The personnel of the Provo B. . P. W. club includes: Mrs. Mary TP. S .Vance of Provo, Friday morning in the Salt Lake temple. Apostle Joseph Fielding Smith performed the ceremony at 10 o'clock, in the presence of immediate immed-iate family members. At noon, an elaborate wedding dinner was tendered the bride and groom and the bridal party by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Gilchrist at their home in Salt Lake. Roses and daisies centered cen-tered the dining table. Mr. and Mrs. Vance left Fridav night for Chicago, where they Will make their home. Craneat the Colonial Party Bouse Friday afternoon, honoring her daughter, Mfss Bessie Lowe, br!de elect. Miss Lowe is to be wed to Paul Cochran, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cochran of Provo, Tuesday in the Salt Lake temple, announcement of which was made during the luncheon, the card and a tiny wedding wed-ding ring feeing tucked ift a rosebud rose-bud and given as a favor. Progressive bride was played, Mrs. Martha Johnson winning high score prize, and Mrs. Rose Harris, the second favor. Miss Roselyn Cochran and Miss Ruth Grames gave readings, Miss Bessie Lowe and Miss Helen Gordon rendered a duet, and a solo was sung by Miss Viola Johnson. Forty-eight guests were present from Provo, American Fork, Pleas-and Pleas-and Grove and Salt Lake City. After the marriage, the young couple will leave to spend a week at the fair in San Diego, and will return to Provo to make their home. Lovely gifts were received by the bride-elect. Birthday Party For Club Member Daisy Sewing club members met at the home of Mrs. Zora Peay Friday afternoon, the occasion being be-ing her birthday anniversary. Canyon Party Tendered Club Swastika club members were delightfully de-lightfully entertained by Mrs. J. B. Sylvester and Mrs. Harlan Thomas at the Thomas summer home in Springdell, Provo canyon, Friday afternoon. A delicious 2 o'clock dinner was served. Cards were played, the women enjoyed short hikes and a number of group pictures were taken. Tasty refreshments were served before the party left for Provo. The gay outing was attended by: Mrs. E. J. Fewer Marriages In June This Year Maybe it was the weather. Whatever the cause, there were 17 fewer marriage licenses granted in June at the Utah county clerk's office than there were in the corresponding corres-ponding month last year. There were 68 licenses issued is-sued this month by County Clerk Clarence ' A. Grant. Last year in June there were 85. Mr. Grant officiated at the marriage of 10 of hte 68. White larkspur, ferns and palms made the church lovely, - The bride appeared in a handsome hand-some wedding gown of white satin, and a white silk tulle veil caught with orange blossims. She carried a bride's bouquet of white Kiss-man Kiss-man roses and ;White Bouvardia. Mrs. Vaughan, sister of the bride, was : matron of honor, and the bridesmaids were Miss Genevieve Spits and Miss Verna, Cornell of Alhambra. Wallace Soff of Los Angeles, was best man. A reception was tendered the bride and groom at the Wolff residence resi-dence the same evening, 100 guests being present. They enjoyed a honeymoon in San Diego, Cal., and will make their home in Alhambra. Sunday School Outing In Canyon The Second ward Sunday school superin tendency, LeRoy J. Olsen, Halvor Madsen and Vern Nelson, entertained for the officers and teachers and their partners and the bishopric and partners Friday evening. The gay affair was held at the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Madsen in Vivian park, Provo canyon, and was in the form of a steak fry. The 67 guests were seated at three long tables, with Halvor Madsen presiding. Bishop Benjamin Ben-jamin H. Knudsen offered grace, and after supper, community singing sing-ing was enjoyed; Mrs. J. W. Harris entertained with accordian numbers, num-bers, and selections were rendered render-ed by the ward quartet. A number num-ber of delightful games were played. play-ed. Visiting Faculty Members Honored Dr. and Mrs. F. S. Harris gave a dinner Thursday evening at their home, for the visiting professors at the B. Y. U. summer school. Miller of American Fork, to Ralph G. Borefi, son7 of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Boren of Provo, was an event of Tuesday, the ceremony being performed ip the Salt Lake-temple. -Mr. and Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Boren, the parents, witnessed the ceremony. Pres. George F. The entertaining rooms were made beautiful with baskets of cut flowers and potted plants. The bride wore a lovely gown of pale blue embroidered chiffon over pink satin, and she carried pink and white rosebuds. Music and games were followed by a tasty .tray luncheon served to 100 relatives and close friends of the young couple. Mr. and Mrs. Rowley will spend several weeks visiting relatives and friends and will be at home in Orem after August 1. The bride's wedding ring is interesting in-teresting for the fact that it was made from her grandmother's solid sol-id gold wedding band, the late Caroline Madsen, given to her over 75 years ago by her husband, the late Bishop Peter Madsen.
