The lattet occupation, she claims, should have been her life work, bhe loves that work and was very successful in this labor of love. but instead of spreading out her affections over so many people, she decided to center it on' one person in particular, Mr. George west, and let it go at mai. -Contented and Iappy " We find her now,, resting on her oars, contented and happy with a good hubby by her side, and a good hobby at her finger tips, but irom the amount of fine needle craft she can display one might conclude that the . hobby is win ning out as far as attention is concerned, p' A - - ''- Mrs. West hasn't said much about her hobby, but I happened to hear that she was a number one quilter, and straightway proceeded pro-ceeded to imd out for myseif if it was true. . I . called on her' one afternoon and found her stitching away on some bright colored octagon shaped shap-ed percale pieces no bigger than a fifty cent piece. When they had reached their final stage of de sign and perfection they would be known as the Painted Daisy. "Oh dear," I said, jokingly, "tell me why you have selected . this tedious old-fashioned work as your hobby, why it's centuries ago when this iuea of putting a half million stitches into a single piece of fabric first came into people's heads." . "Ifes, I guess it is pretty ancient," anci-ent," she replied, "and some say it's all a lot of nonsense, - but -1 like to do - it. I would stay at home and make something useful than anything else I Know of, especially during : the winter months. Besides that, it satisfies partially my longing for beauty and art." - ''vsv-::-:?
