Show missionary LETTER charleston west virginia feb 18 1916 editor of parowan carowan times dear sir it is with pleasure that I 1 write you a few lines to show my appreciation for the favor you have shown me by sending the parlin par lin times to my address for the past few months it certainly comes as a welcomed visitor there being very little time lost after its arrival before its pages have been well looked over the paper certainly deserves the h highest commendation and is something that carowan parowan can be aus us tidied in boasting oer a er there is an influence in things that pertain to home different than what is found in anything else no matter what hat its importance one may pick up the daily papers and read about the pro tress grets of the woi ivor id or the happenings of the great war and wonder but should his eyes chance onto a little article telling of something close to home nil all e se be will loose its interest for a spell the missionary work in this part of the lords vineyard is progress ing very well we have three or branches and over seven hundred members in the conference last year there were over sixty baptisms and some of the most faithful are to be found among their number we meet people everywhere who mho are friends to the cause the Ving ginian mian people are noted for their hospitality and when traveling in the country one will find plenty of good reasons to testify to the uth fullness of the statement west virginia la is a very beautiful country in trim mani ways especially in summer when the whole country is clothed engreen io green the steep side hilli covered with trees and farms give a very pleasing sight to the eye the hills p produce duce good crops of corn and vegetable also fruits of different kinds but it is very poor in prodoc ing hey hay and grain when we me see the he farmers here digging away on the he hill bill sides among the roots and rocks then is when we can feel thankful for our homes in the valleys of the mountains where the soi soil 1 is d deep beep and level the state of virginia has its ite virtues in other lines it being one of the greatest producers of coal oil 01 and natural gas which fields are almost inexhaustible over oer square miles which comprises 70 percent of the total area of the united states is with coal the different veins varying 1 l I 1 in n t thickness from one to ten feet I 1 f feel ee 1 that I 1 have been greatly blessed for my time and effort spent in the work of the lord so far not having to want for anything that is needful but have seen it demonstrated that when the lords servants were in need of anything that away a way has been opened up whereby jhc thc they could obtain the same and not he having to go without trusting that sou iou may have c continued success in the f future and ami thanking you I 1 1 remain respectfully yours A ADAMS |
