| Show HUNDREDS HONOR RETIRING M I 1 A OFFICERS iron county record nearly people assembled on the B A C campus tuesday evening to do honor to the retiring stake al 1 I A offic officers tirs and to participate in games and lun fun making which were provided by the community recreation committee for their formal opening of 0 the summer recreational program in cedar family groups gathered at tho close of oe the day aud and ate together on the lawns of the campus mr wm win birrell remaining true to fo his hia pro promise inise had dozens of cases of iced drinks on hand which were distributed to everyone free of charge two baseball games which were played one between parowan carowan anu ana cedar city girls aud and the other between parowan carowan and cedar city mon resulted in victories for parowan carowan in both games sirs mrs lyle thomas and mrs 1 I Y bigelow entertained the children ili n the group with a series of lively games other amusements included a peppy volley ball game between two teams composed of 0 business moll men of the town horse shoe pitching croquet and tennis these were under the direct supervision ot of L C miles allies to whom much credit should go tor for the excellent planning of the affair the jr school band dressed lu in their colorful colo rEul red and white uniforms gave a concert ot of the finest type under tinder the skillful direction of their leader melvia done special recognition is due director and other school officials tor for their cooperation with the recreation center in permitting tile the to be used tor for tbs purpose the dixie power co has also won the good will ot of everyone by lighting the pla playground ground without charge to the organization the crowd was hearty in extending good wishes to the retiring af I 1 A officers who aho have been fore ore roost most in supporting tho the move toward community recreation of par nicular note has been the activities of mr air I 1 L Y bigelow to further such a program mr air bigelow has not only developed some borne of the beat scouts in southern utah but he has taken the lead in all major events rel relative alive to progression towards the present system or of planning fun for or all the honored guests were alice C knell I 1 Y bigelow ann J gardner and af 13 langford Lang tord and to them the recreation workers extend their r gratitude for or tho the support they have given this project |
