Show WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 1974 PAGE 8 COALITION Jerry Hanley has roots that PEOPLE! penetrate deeply into the historic soil of Park City. Excepting a three year stint in the Navy, he has made his home here for all of JERRY HANLEY his fifty-on- e years and his ancestors established residence in 1884. Jerry has been employed by the Post Office since 1947. One interesting aspect of the Hanley family is that his brothers, Bob and Bill, sold a parcel of land to the United Park City Company and that land now supports the Resort Complex and sports a golf course and clubhouse. When asked to comment on the the Miners Hospital, Jerry said that controversy surrounding he holds no strong feelings for its preservation. It is his contention that the hospital does not merit historical recognition and that the owner of the property has the right to use the land for any valid purpose he wishes. A fact worth mentioning is that Jerry was born in the Miners Hospital. Commenting on Park City in general, Jerry thinks that the recreational development, skiing in particular, has been beneficial to the city and feels the growth pattern has been acceptable. However, he has misgivings about GPCCs construction plans in light of possible water shortages and sewer problems. Jerry advocates an adherence to the architecture in building, desires a growth rate which is sensibly controlled, and forecasts that the Park City of the future will boom largely on the strength of a revised mining industry. Giving his views on the people who comprise Park City, Jerry noted the number of young people that skiing has attracted. Being a g resident of an old mining town with set patterns, he had a preconceived negative attitude toward long-hairand fought the locks his own longer against two children were grooming. After getting acquainted with the new citizens, Jerry states that, Ninety percent of them are among the greatest people I know. Now even the Hanley kids can display contemporary hair styles without fear of castigation. old-sty- le V life-lon- 221 MAIN ANTIQUES s, STORE HOURS Wednesday, Thursday, Friday . . .
