Smith, chairman (A the Salt Lake County Chapter of the health organization recently announced. Miss Eakles scholarship is in nursing. Miss Oates' Scholarship is in physical therapy. In the fall, both girls will enroll at the University of Utah. Each scholarship, which has a total value of $2,000 for four years, is financed by public contributions to the march of dimes. Miss Eakle is the daughter ot Mr Si Mrs J. Lee Eakle. She is a graduate of the East High Schrol where she represented the Sophomore girls and was secretary of Seminary in her Junior year. She was a member of the Pep Club, Acapella, Madrigals and Girls Quartet. She received honors at entrance scholarship at the University. Miss Oates is the daughter ol Mrs Frances B. Oates. Member of the Safety Council for three years, the Pep Club, the German Club, and received honors at entrance scholarship at the University. She is a graduate of Granger High Sclinl. The shortage of trained personnel in the health fields be comes n ore alarming every day, Mr Smith said. "We must encourage our young people to fill these vacancies. With the support of the public, The Foundation-Marc- h of Dimes wants to give a helping band to those young people who will dedicate themselves to helping others. This is the fourth year that the health organization has awarded scholarships in medicine, medical social work, nursing, physical therapy and occup-tiontherapy. Recipients of the scholarships are selected in each state by committees com posed of five state leaders in the fields of health. They represent the professions included in the scholarship program. Since 1959, the scholarships awarded have totaled approximately 1,300 exclusive of appointments being made this year.
