The basic goal is to provide selected educational cx'perience which will help members of the LBS church and other of Brigham Young University to become bcttci leaders in the home, community and the church. The program is designed to benefit all members of the family from fourteen years of age and older. Nineteen members of the BYU faculty will teach classes during the week as well as. 17 specialists from outside the university. Olympus District of the Great Salt Lake Council ia now fully organized in its preparations to do its share in raising funds to build the Boy Scout Service Center at 500 South & Foothill Blvd. At Monday's kickoff held at the Union Building at the University of in Utah, twelve majors charge of the direction of the campaign throughout the district received their instruction and kits. Heading the institutional division for the district comprising East Millcreek, Holladay and Cottonwood is Dr. Edmond P. Hyatt, a business executive and active scouter. He will be assisted by the majors in the district organization who will each have up to 120 com mittee members working with them. Each of these divisions will have captains supervis ing contacts with all sponsoring institutions. The majors are J. Elwood Neff, Dr. Robert D. Preston, Pres. Ervin Skouscn and Carl Roeslenburg in the y View area; Canyon Grant MacFarlane, E.B. Howell in East Millcreek; E. George Kern, Douglas Mabey, J. Richard Ross and Melvin West in the Holladay area; Max S. Peterson and Edward Rabiger in Cottonwood. At the Kickoff conducted by Ames K. Bagley, the principal speaker was Ezra Taft Benson who discussed the accelerated growth of the boy scout membership in the Great Salt Lake Council. Projected growth obtained from statistics over the past several years would indicate that by 1970 membership would increase from the present 28,000 to 40,000 making (his council the second largest west of the Mississippi. In the Mt. Olympus district now, there are approximately 5,000 boys and key scoulers.
