Other members of their family could not be here: Bert, who is in the service for the U. S. Army in Alabama; Ronald, working in Milwaukee; and Mrs. Gene Schaffer (Patsy, who was born in Moroni, Utah). Mr. and Mrs. Michalak also went through the session of the LDS Manti with the Nielson family, witnessing the marriage of Lynette and Tom Johansen. Craig Nielson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nielson, and his friend Miss Diane Prisby, both of St. George. Tidwell Mrs. Max (Peggy) Bailey and her daughters, Gloria, Karen, and Lisa, two friends from California, Marti and Jane Nelson of Chino, plus horses they transported up there, we must include them, spent three days at the Crowther cabin on the East Mountain, having lots of fun. Mr. Bailey and his nephew, John Busenbark of San Francisco, who is spending the summer with the Baileys, spent one day on the mountain with the family. A wedding dinner in honor of the bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Tom V. Johansen, was given by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Johansen in the Chester Ward Cultural Hall for the two immediate families and their friends. An honor guest was Toms Aunt Wade who drove here from her home in Price. The dinner guests included the bride and groom, their parents, two brothers of the groom: Mr. and Mrs. Duane Johansen and children of Orem; Mr. Allen Johansen of Chester; a sister, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Clegg (Pat) and children of Orem; the Tidwell family: Mr. and Mrs. Dale Tidwell; David Tidwells; the Cleon Tidwells; Claude Tidwells; Craig Nielson and Diane Prisbey; Mr. and Mrs. LaMar (Indra J.) Barney of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Glendon Jones of Chester; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Michalak, Wisconsin; Bishop and Mrs. Earl Sorenson of Chester; Mr. and Mrs. Devere Harward of Chester; (The latter also attended the temple session. very veautiful day on the Mother Natures Patch Work quilt the many farms and fields, surrounded by mountains, was enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. John Paul (LaJune O.) Jones, son Tony, Jessie, Doyce and Lee Oldroyd, with Doyce acting as chauffeur and guide. The cool air was delightful and the flowers and vegetation in their full glory. We stopped at Cool Springs where some of us took turns riding the horse at the sheep camp, where Gayle Huggins was the herder. Several other towns people arrived for their outing, so we all enjoyed the good cold melon Doyce served to us. If you havent been up this area, do so. Tis worth the trip. Thanks to Mr. Oldroyd for our lovely day. and their wives held a big steak fry, up to Dad and Sons in Nephi Canyon, July :n. Mrs. Ida Allred spent six grand and glorious days at Fish Lake with her relatives: Mr. and daughters from Anchorage, Alaska; a nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Johnson and daughter of Los Alametos, California. During their visit, the Howard and Sarah Rigby family held a reunion at the Mt. Pleasant Park. Attending were Mrs. Howard W. During the reunion, Mrs. Nelson Abbott read a family history reminiscing the poem she had written which also had some verses about each of the Mrs. Violet Kinsman, Susan Kinsman, Blanche Follett, Dora Rigby, Eda Graham and Mary Fowles all of Fairview, and Mrs. Lois Brotherson and her daughter of Mt. Pleasant, returned home Sunday evening after spending two weeks touring the East and the Hill Camorah Pageant Tour. One of the first highlights of their tour was a visit to Independence and Jackson County Missouri where they saw the ground dedicated for the Temple and also visited the headquarters of the Restored Church. They saw Carthage Jail and the Liberty Jail and toured the restored city of Nauvoo, noting where the pioneers crossed the Mississippi River on solid ice. They visited the tomb of President Eisenhower and Lincolns tomb in Springfield, Illinois. In Independence, they also saw the Library ahd home of President Truman. They traveled to Indianapolis where they saw the famous Indianapolis Speedway. From there, they traveled to Washington D. C. where they saw many of the historical sights there. They visited the White House, Mount Vernon, the Capitol, the Lincoln Monument and the Washington Memorial. One of the highlights of that area was a visit to the Smithsonian Institute where there were so many things to see at Fairmont Park in Salt Lake City There were fifty-sifamily members present. A delicious pot luck dinner and visiting were x enjoyed. in. Next it was New York City with its giant skyscrapers and busy streets. Some members of the group toured the Statue of Liberty and other sights During this time, Mrs. Kinsman visited Mr. and with her sister-in-laMrs. W. W. Myers and their daughter Gayle, in New Jersey. It was raining while they were in New York, so they missed some of the usual places of interest but they did see the Empire State Building. The highlight of the tour was the Hill Camorah Pageant in Palmyra. They were very impressed with the Pageant which was in their words fabulous. While in Palmyra, the group toured the Joseph Smith home and the Sacred Grove. Enrqute home, they stopped at Winter Quarters in Missouri and in Omaha, Nebraska. They also took the loop ride around Chicago, which they report was a beautiful ride. They noted that the areas in the East all green and it was very beautiful. Elder Ockey, son of Mrs. Elva Ockey, will leave August 14 to enter the mission home in Salt Lake and will spend eight weeks at the BYU studying the Spanish language, prior to his leaving to serve as a missionary in the North Argentina Mission, South America.
