Show Utah Will Have Greatest Tourist Season From points as far removed as Maine ar.d FLrida, motorists are heading for Utah this year m greater numbers than ever before, Joe H. Thompson', d rector of the Conoco Tr. vel Bureau, Denver, enr, unced tcday after making a nationwide survey of tourist trends. The survey rhows, he said, that 1.400.000 perso's will come by automobile to Utah this year and leave behind the record sum of $29,075,000. The annual Conoco survey is based on requests for rcute and ether motorists' information received re-ceived at the Travel Bureau. Of those in the United States who have never seen Great Salt Lake, it pppears all want to see it, and a good many thousands cf them will come this year. Altogether, Utah's tourist industry will be up 36 percent over 1930." Nearly six million dollars will be spent for lodging, and a like amount for gas, o:l, garaging and repars; retail stores will get $5,-105.750; $5,-105.750; the visitors will pay S7-268.000 S7-268.000 for meals a new hiph anS roadside stands will take $2,326,000 the remaining million and three quarters being earmarked for amusements, Thompson said. |
