food you are for a rude awakening if you ever you neglect probably in try to eat it According to a survey done by the Utah State University Nutrition and Food Sciences Department about 67 percent of all Utah residents have some sort of food storage program The survey also indicated that much of this food is either so old or has been stored in such a hot area that it is of low eating quality 4-- H Burns Simple aging gradually robs stored food of nutrients and changes its flavor but the temperature of the storage area can also alter the storage life of food says Dr Deloy Hendricks professor of nutrition and food sciences at USU “Our survey revealed that of those who store whole grain and flour 45 percent had kept it stored for more than five years and 19 percent had kept it stored for more than 10 years Hendricks says “Also 39 percent of those who stored dried milk had kept it in storage more than five years Ten percent had stored it more than 10 years” he adds The survey indicated that 73 percent of those who stored food did so in their is usually the basements The basement coolest spot in the house but it may become a hot area if the food is stored too close to the furnace “Ideally food should be stored in an area that is less than 50 degrees year round” Hendricks says He says the survey indicated that is quite common for the temperatures in food storage areas to exceed 70 teams competed in the Regional Horsemanship contests in Richfield and made an excellent in the junior division beating out 36 other youth from Central and Southern Utah Close behind Rachael were Shalmie with 85 points Aleta with 80 points Natalie with 70 points then Sara Kerri Megan and Brenda These youth earned a total of 23 blue ribbons which ndicates the kind of showing they made in the team standings Millard came out in third place just points behind the winner Sevier County The senior team was represented by Natalie Burns Stacy Adams Cheryl Wade and Kami Myers Since they were short of the minimum five team members they did not place Natalie and Cheryl scored 75 points The four ladies scored a total of 15 blue ribbons showing The Junior Team consisted of Aleta Boardman Natalie Ekins Rachael Farnsworth Brenda Boardman Shalmie Tracy Megan Williams Kerri Scott Sara Tippetts and alternate Kristin Bums These youth competed in written test showmanship at halter horsemanship
