Show THE TEMPERMENTAL SUZANNE Newspaper accounts indicates that Suzanne Lenglen, erstwhile world champion woman tennis player, and Mr. Baldwin Baldwin had a tempestous time in sailing from New York to France. They are going to that country to be married if Mr. Baldwin Baldwin is successful in divorcing his present wife-Mr. wife-Mr. Baldwin attacked three newspaper photographers who were seeking to take their pictures, while Miss Leng-len Leng-len created a commotion by crying loudly for the arrest f one of the newspaper men. The most unkind thing that newspapers could have done in the past would have to given these people no publicity. publici-ty. Newspapers enabled Miss Lenglen to reap a harvest of money as a professional tennis player by filling columns with her pictures and with other publicity material. The sports-loving public has never particularly cared for Miss Lenglen's attitude while she reigned as queen of courts. She defaulted one match with Helen Wills, and during dur-ing their last contest there occured incidents which spoke volumes about her poor sportsmanship. Peronally, we never were very much sold on Suzanne but we guess she never cared a great deal about us either, so its probably fifty-fifty. |
