Cutting, hard surfacing, bronze welding, electric and acetylene welding were the important features stressed. Welding specig mens were tested with a machine to determine the strength of the welds made. Comparisons were made with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers boiler code. The tests proved to be on an equal par with the national average. Aim of the program Is to work with industry rather than against it. An advisory committee of outstanding tradesmen is composed of representatives of companies, foremen, workmen, and administration committeemen from the instructors and administration of the college. Number of men to be trained In various trades, amount and kind of training, type of training equipment and material, placing of students, and the methods of testing students to see if they are ready for trade work are some of the problems this committee endeavors to solve. Close harmony and cooperation are brought about between the training program and industry through this advisory committee. Instructor of the classes was C. W.
