Mr. Maulsby said persons turning in their applications for enrollment in the OCC should plan to "stick with it," or to cancel their application, rather than allow the application to run and then merely fail to show up when a call comes. Much difficulty has arisen oecause of this condition, he stated. It was also pointed out. that age verification must accompany the application. Claude Olsen, 22, of Helper, was sentenced by Judge George Christen-se- n t a term of not more than five years in the state penitentiary after an earlier suspension of pronouncement of judgment was revoked. Reversing an earlier plea, Olsen and Carlyle MacDonald, 21, also cf Helper, pleaded guilty last month to a charge of unlawfully depriving an owner of possession of his automobile, and they were granted a suspension of pronouiiceittf of judgment. Later thep-- "'' jPn was fn driv arrested on a Jensen ing, and laat weekJW., . issued a bench warrantToT Olsen to appear to show cause why the suspension should not be terminated. Don't yield to temptation and park there. The reason for restricting parking in front of public buildings is not for the persecution of the motorists but as a measure of public safety . In case of fire or accident, fire trucks and ambulances must have access to the front of public buildings. Parking is prohibited for a distance of fifteen feet from any inter, section or fire plug. Parking too close to a street intersection obstructs the vision of oncoming traffic. In case of fire the firemen need room to lay and connect their hose lines. If a car is parked beside a fireplug their work is hampered. A few seconds delay unnecessarily endangers life and property. Double parking as shown by car 2, is a dangerous practice. The reason is 'so obvious it is needless to discuss it. Parking on cross walks forces pedestrians to walk in the traffic lanes, thus endangering their lives. In business districts in some cities and towns, parking is restricted as to time. Look for the signs, "10 minute parking"' or "One Hour Parking," and then obey the regulations. It is also forbidden to park in alleys. When forced to stop on the highways never park on the pavement always on the , shoulder of the roadway. Avoid parking on hills and curves at all times.
