Finally, Beth looked at me and asked if I was proposing that Phoebe forge Myrtle's signature and I told her absolutely not. I was simply suggesting we help Myrtle because she is getting so forgetful. Everybody knows that Myrtle is getting worse. Edgar said he took her over to the store the other day and sat in the car while she went in shopping and she was in there quite a while and when she came out, she didn't have a thing with her. Edgar said he asked her if she bought anything, and it wasn't until he said that she looked at her hands and realized she didn't have her bags. She had put them in the cart and walked right out without her stuff. He said it's getting worse everyday. We agreed to do this without going through the club because we consider it a an emergency situation and we don't want to tell too many because if one certain lady got wind of it we might as well put it on the radio. Vera said she was excited because it sounded like what goes on in Washington with the politicians all the time. We are postponing meeting next week while we see if we can work this matter out without breaking the law. Hazel said the whole thing sounds like Watergate to her and we'll probably all end up in prison. She's always the pessimist.
