Bailey made 7 of 13 from the court, two of which were 3 pointers, and 6 of 10 from the free throw line for her points. Saturday afternoon the Lady Bulldogs met to play their last season home game. The girls were a bit teary eyed as they honored the Seniors. Sarah Southwick, Sam Coulter and Lisa Bartholomew were about to play their last home game as members of the Gunnison Lady Bulldogs. They have proven to be great leaders in this season’s fourth place standing in tough region play. The girls also honored the coaches and their wives. It was then announced that Lisa had made the Academic All-State Team in Basketball. Then the Lady Bulldogs hit the floor for a hard played game against the Grand Red Devils. The ball was tipped to Sam Coulter and Lisa Bartholomew brought it down the floor. This was the beginning of a hard fought defensive game. Offensively the game was slow for the WRESTLERS Continued from Page 1 At 189 lbs., Mason Mackay took 7th place. He wrestled very aggressively and respectably earned a ride to State. At 215 lbs., Chad Satterfield took 1st place. His championship match was a real nail biter. It was a much deserved, hard- earned win. The remaining wrestlers, Jesson Schear, Justin Satterfield, Don Christensen, Dillon Bown, Ben Boore, and Sam Brown, all just fell a little short of making it. They wrestled very tough with some very close matches, and you can count on them doing it next year! The State Tournament starts at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 8th at UVSC in Orem. The wrestling will continue through the end of the week with the Championships on Saturday. These wrestlers will represent the Bulldogs well, and they need some support. The weather should be good, so drive on up to Orem and cheer them on! Larry Childs/Gunnison Valley Gazette Taylor Newman puts up a jump shot against the Red Devils. They turned out to be Gunnison’s only two points that quarter. Grand put up 4 points in the same amount of time. With first quarter final score Gunnison 2 Grand 4, things didn’t look promising. Second quarter was a little better with Gunnison 13 and Grand 15. Third quarter ended with Gunnison still trailing by a score of 23 to 24. The last quarter the girls put their offensive game in gear and they played to 38 points. The defensive remained tough holding Grand to 26. What a difference one day makes. Bailey had high score with 14 points; she made 3 of 9 from the floor and 8 of 11 from the free throw line. Teigan made 3 of 8 from the floor and 2 of 4 from the line for 8 points.
