The medical office building is named the Rees / Stewart Medical Office Building in honor and recognition of Drs. Lamar H. Stewart and G. Stanford Rees, the two founding father physicians of healthcare in Gunnison. Dr. Stewart and his wife Nedra, as well as Rees family members, were in attendance to greet the open house visitors. The Rees / Stewart medical office building is 10,500 square feet, and will be used by primary care and specialist physicians. The west side of the building is leased by the Central Utah Clinic, a physician specialist’s organization based in Provo, Utah. Currently oncology, cardiology and orthopedic specialists from the Central Utah Clinic are seeing patients in the new building. The east side of the building has the capacity for four primary care physicians. Dr. Jan F. Christensen is currently practicing in the building, and Dr. G.J. Willden will start seeing patients in July of this year, after completion of his residency training. An existing clinic building just to the west of the new medical office building was expanded and remodeled for a new home care office building.
