Marine Hospital Surgeon Carmichael, at Honolulu, Hawaii, in a report to Surgeon General Wyman on the disinfection of mails from the leper set-- ! tlement on the island of Molokoi. says a reasonably safe plan has been adopted to avoid the incident to sendail them to the ing quarantine station. All mail from the leper settlement will be disinfected with sulphur dioxide at the settlement and then transferred directly to the steamer and received aboard in clean and disinfected sacks furnished by the post office authorities. At Honolulu the mail will be taken in these sacks directly to a room in the post office used for disinfection purposes and disinfected with formaldehyde without removal from the sacksin which received from the steamer at the leper settlement. All letters are perforated or the corners clipped at the settlement before disinfection. No case of leprosy, the surgeon reports, has yet been discovered among the post office employes, although mail from the leper settlement-habeen handled by them for many years. j printing. ..I rinds of grain and luceru seed taken at Mrs. Addie E. Laxative BromoQuinine Tablets the remedy that cures a cold in one day The Iri R. Hicks 1901 Almanac. Whatever may be said of the scientific causes upon which the Rev. Iri R. Hicks bases his yearly forecasts of storm and weather, it is a remarkable fact that specific warnings of every great storm, flood, cold wave and drouth, have been plainly printed La his now famous Almanac for many years. The latest startling proof of this fact was the destruction of Galveston, Texas, on the very day named by Prof. Hicks in his 1909 Almanac, as one of disaster by storm along the gulf coasts. The 1901 Almanac by far the finest, most complete and beautiful yet published, is now ready. This remarkable book of near two hundred pages, splendidly illustrated with charts and halftone engravings, goes as a premium to every subscriber who pays one dollar a year for Proi. Hicks Journal, Word and Works. The Almanac alone is sent prepaid for only 25cts. Order from Word and Works Publishing Company, 2201 Locust Street, St. Louts, Mo-- - close. 4 p. m.
