Some of these groups are outright candid in stating their goals. Others conceal them in order to carry out deliberate and detrimental ideals contrary to our form of Democratic society. They ALL seek to destroy, or drastically change, our system of Government! Fortunately, our Government knows the names of these groups and their aims. In many instances, they know the names of those who are or have lieen memliers. But, ironically, the list is long and inemlierships are startling and realistic. Communism is the system of government avowed to destroy all other forms of government. It is sworn to strangle countries one bv one until it emerges as the worlds system. No nation on earth is too large (as in the case of the United States) or too small, notably Culia. Its encroachment lie gins menacingly unnoticed. Sometimes it liegins within the ranks of the less fortunate; often within the realms of the intellectual strata. To The Man Americans Called Ike RcHlCHlbrcUlCC The six cent Dwight D. Eisenhower commemorative stamp will be issued next Tuesday, October 14, at Abilene, Kansas, where Eisenhower spent his boyhood and where he is buried. In announcing the issuance of the stamp. Postmaster General Winton M. Blount said: General Elisenhower was one of the truly great Americans of our time and of all time. His life was proof that the fundamental power of the American people lies not only in their potential for greatness, but in their capacity for goodness. It is appropriate that we should honor his memory in this way." The design is based on a photograph by Bemie Noble that shows Ikes famous grin. Mrs. Eisenhower approved the selection. The vertical format stamp will lie the second jumlio-size- d stamp issued by the U.S. this year. The first was the moon landing stamp. The vignette is printed in hlack. The information at the top of the stamp is printed in blue, and the name at the bottom is in red. lluliert ltiinkel has been Collectors interested in first-da- y to Specialist Five, Spec. covers may send addressed 5 Rtmkel is assigned to Chem envelopes, together with remit- Assay Branch. tance to cover cost of stamps deDuane S. Troopin The Line pro-mut- - HRO Finds Quarters Where and how do we fit into the picture? Its simple. We are all potential memliers! There are hundreds of memliers of these groups who may lie completely unaware of their dangers. Innocent individuals may lie conscripted every year without realizing the initial intent of the group. Dormant cells of Communism are lieing formed with each new cell liecoming a greater threat to our Nation. The fact that a close friend asks you to join an organization does not mean it is a good one. Check it out with your security officer. Your friend may have been sucked in the same way he is trying to convince you of the groups laurels. In all honesty, he may sincerely believe it is a worthwhile organization. Thats how these memberships build. Be aware of the dangers of liecoming affiliated with any group: fraternal or otherwise. Study its charter and see if it is on the list. Careers have licen ruined by joining organizations that were thought to he American as apple pie. The doublecross comes after you have joined, paid dues, made friends, and then learned of your tragic mistake. Don't lie a sucker for Comrade Doublecross. Be an American. Thats where the apple pie really is. (AFPS) Larry L. Swafford has lxen promoted to the rank of Specialist 4. Is Americas Image Blurred To Others? America is still a beautiful land of opportunity and freedom, but certain domestic and social problems are causing the American image to blur iu the eyes of some foreign visitors. Impressions of America and the American way of life were obtained from six memliers of a group of 40 foreign individuals who came to learn aliout the United States as Eisenhower Exchange Fellows last March. Now, as each nears the end of his visit, they express openly some of their views both good and bad aliout America the Beautiful. - - Hie Exchange Fellowships were established in 1953 by friends of the late President Dwight D. Elsenhower. Question: What, if any, are the advantages to reenlisting for a tour of duty in Vietnam. Answer: There are pruliahly more benefits than you think. For instance, there is extra pay, not only liecause of foreign duty and hostile fire allowances, hut liecause all pay and allowances of enlisted men are tax free. Besides the monetary advantages, there is seven days of R & R for every 12 mouths of service in Vietnam. The Army will fly von, free of charge, to such attractive and restful areas as Hong Kong, Bangkok, Tokvo, Singapore, Australia or Hawaii. You will also get three days of R & R within Vietnam. Question: While service overseas, can I reenlist for duty in the United States? Answer: Yes. Any enlisted person, regardless of pay grade, may e reenlist under the CONUS option. This assures a one-yestabilized tour at the stateside station you choose. This option is normally open to enlisted men in grades E-- l through E-but in Vitenam it is open to everyone. Another option for Vietnam veterans is the drill sergeant program. It offers a stabilized tour of 18 months at a stateside training center of yuur choice. Qualified NCOs and Specialists in grades E-- 4 through E-- 7 can reenlist for this duty while in Vietnam. A big advantage of this program is that a man can lie promoted from E-- 5 to E-- 6 without regard to time in grade or service. Well, thats all the space for questions well have today.
