First school to instruct U.S. Army crew chief mechanics and technicians in the care and feeding of the world's most advanced heli- copter battle bird, the new Cheyenne, is under way at the Lockheed --California Company. These selected graduate all helicopter - experistudents, enced and many with Vietnam combat duty were drawn from Army aviation units from throughout the U.S. and overseas. They are now receiving classroom instruction and actual maintenance training on a Cheyenne helicopter in the Lockheed plant at Van Nuys, California. of completion Following their courses, the Army men report to the newly reorganized 3rd Aviation Company at the Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona. The courses were set up by Lockheed maintenance training Frank Cheney, administrator, under the direction of Frank Simmons, manager of maintenance training.
