He was honored by President Reagan during the week long festivities in Washington with receptions, dinners and presentations at the National Academy of Sciences. THIS prestigious award was begun last year by the President. The award states: "It is presented with the gratitude of your fellow citizens by the President of the United States of America... for embodying excellence in teaching, for devotion to the learning needs of students and for upholding the high standards that exemplify American education at its finest." Dr. Hunt was selected from a group of over 5000 teacher finalists nationwide. He graduated in 1968 from Utah State University and then was commissioned as a communications officer in the United States Navy. His service included tours of duty on the Presidential Cruiser USS Northhampton, the destroyer USS Basilone, and the aircraft carrier the USS John F. Kennedy. After the Navy, he returned to complete a Masters in Education in 1972 and in 1976 received a doctorate from Brigham Young University. Dr. Hunt is married to the former Sherrie Loveridge of Orem and ' cd DR. TIM HUNT the parents of four son. and one daughter.
