Harris residence on Saturday evening. The group showed pictures of their recent trip to Europe. Elmo E. Merritt Mr, and Mrs. Joe F, Preece and their son and family, Dr. and Mrs. Terry J. Preece and children Jene-kaand Brandon of Layton vacationed last week at Moon Lake in the Uintas, boating and fishing. Mr. and Mrs. John Coulam and four children of Sacramento, Calif, spent 10 days visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Coulam and other relatives and friends. They came to attend the wedding and reception of Miss Denise Draney Nielsen. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Burraston spent the Labor Day weekend in Payson with relatives. CLEARFIELD - Its never too late in life to start walking or jogging to keep in shape - and that means senior citizens have as much -- HE WAS born March 17, 1923 in Bedford, Wyo., a son of George Heber and Ethel Spackman Merritt. He married Helena Hardman on Sept. 12, 1945, in England. She died Jan. 16, 1978. HE RETIRED as a machinist at Hill Air Force Base; was reared and educated in Wyoming; served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II; lived in Layton the past 23 years and was a member of the LDS Church. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Merritt, Ogden and Nancy Merritt of Juneau, Alaska. ALSO SURVIVING are two brothers and two sisters, Austin Merritt and LaMar Merritt, both of Bedford, Wyo.; Naoma Eustace, Calif, and Betty Hepworth of Redwood City, Calif. Bishop P. Eckersley officiated at services on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at Lindquist's Clearfield Chapel. . PALLBEARERS were Austin Merritt, LaMar Merritt, Ronald Merritt, Eldon McKee, Ned Monroe and Clinton Jacobsen. SHE WAS born Jan. 23. 1927 in Milwaukee, Wise., a daughter of Alvin and Angeline Snyder Gruett. She married John C. Weinert on July 3, 1948. He died Jan. 2, 1981. SHE WAS reared in Milwaukee and graduated from Washington High School. She was a member of the Catholic Church and had lived in Layton for the past two years. She and her family had lived in many places in the United States and in Europe. SURVIVING are one son, Richard J.
