Wild Cat divers Trevor Grubbs, Morgan Lewis and Nick Clark captured the top three slots. Joe Gaerte placed first in both the 100-yar- d d freestyle, butterfly. Paul Callister placed first in the 200-yar- d individual medley. Justin Keller placed second in that event d as well as the butterfly. d Top-thre- e places in the breaststroke were won by Cameron Evans, Luke Simonson and Oliver Vernon. Winner in d both the 50 and freestyle was Nick Hoskins, followed by Darren Groberg (second) and Tim Fairhurst (third). Wild Cat men also won each of 100-yar- 100-yar- 100-yar- 100-yar- the relay events. The 200-yar- d medley team included George Barkdull, Luke Simonson, James Moss and Jared Bowman. Nick Hoskins, Paul Callister, Darren Groberg and Joel Gaerte com- prised the team which placed first in both the 200 and 400-yar- d freestyle relay races. In a surprising upset. West women handed the Lady Cats their first defeat of the season. INJURY: The meet against West began dramatically last Tuesday as Wildcat sophomore Mary Gadd hit her head on the bottom of the pool during warmups. Gadd, who is the daughter of Alva Gadd (West Bountiful) and Colina Gadd (North Salt Lake) was transported by ambulance to LDS Hospital where it was determined she had suffered a fractured neck vertebrae. Gadd, who butd placed fourth in the terfly in the 1995 4A State Swim Meet, is expected to make a full recovery. 100-yar- Local players team up at Utah Three local volleyball players will be in action next year for the University 9 conThe Davis Darts lost a heartbreaking PLAIN CITY test to the highly touted Fremont Silver Wolves Tuesday. Davis head coach Jay Welk was proud of his team for hying so hard to beat a very good Fremont team, We battled hack the whole game. We picked it up defensively and did some good things-- was proud of Ted (Hollist) going tip against Kofford and really testing him. We had some hard times getting a consistent call from the officials and that hurt us. We were 8 while they they were 6 and that was a big factor. Amanda Walton Van Schalkwyk who played at Bountiful will team with Brenda and Brooke Barton who prepped at Davis. as Amanda was picked a junior and senior and played club volleyball for Ogden Juniors. She played in 26 matches at Utah State as a freshman and had 65 kills. She transferred to the University of Utah where she plays middle blocker. she leads the team in blocks with 1.19 per game. She was recently married to warren Van Schalkwyk. Her parents are James and Sharol Walton. Brenda Barton was picked Female Athlete of the Year at Davis High in 1993. She lettered in volleyball, basketball, softball and track. Brenda has started and played full rotation for the University of Utah both her freshman and sophomore years. Her coach Beth Launier said, To work with her day in and day out, you learn how good she is. This year she was chosen First Team leading the WAC in kills and service aces. Brooke has been first team the past two years and was this years Clipper MVP. She was recruited by 27 schools and chose to join her sister, Brenda, at the University of Utah.
