Show t Ben Lomond Beacon, Feb. 2, 1978, Page 5 PTA involved in TV survey concerning acts of violence The Weber County School District is participating with Parent Teacher Associations all over the United States in a PTA TV Violence Survey." Janet Malmberg, publicity chairman for the Lomond View Elementary School PTA m Pleasant View, said that the parents of each student m the school are assigned to watch specific TV programs for four weeks and decide if the show is violent or not "After the four week period, the observations are to be turned into the PTA and the National PTA will make a final said compilation, Mrs Malmberg. She said that those individuals participating in the survey are to keep a tally of their reactions to physical violence, fighting, beating, rape, kidnapping, hostages, vandalism, kinds of weapons used, and violation of law by law enforcers shown in the program Participants Each month two Weber School students are selected as Warriors of the Month. These students are honored for outstanding accomplishments in school related activities. This months awards go to Debbie Vest and K.C. Johnson. Debbie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Dee Vest. The Vests reside at 2669 North 650 East in North Ogden. Debbie was selected because of her active participation in Webers Girls Sports program. She has played for three years on the varsity volleyball and basketball teams. She has served as team captain in both sports, and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Year in basketball Debbie also enjoys music. She has been in the Sophomore and Choir, is currently Choralaires singing with the A cappella choir. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and received the W-- Pin. also urged to write the different sponsors and advertisors of the program in question and Warrior of the month High are $sr Sophomore royalty named at Weber to keep a list of advertisers throughout the program, commented Mrs Malmberg Viewers are also urged to let the networks, sponsors and advertisers know if they approved of a program and feel that it is good family viewing, she said.
