NOTICE OF INTENT TO VACATE COUNTY ROAD AND HEARING PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the intention of the Board of County Commissioners of Beaver County, Utah, to vacate that certain county road hereafter described. Lamb VicePresident, and Board Members Pat Rimpau, Rondo T. Farrer, and G. Brent Edwards. Also present were Superintendent Carl M. Holmes, Assistant Superintendent Donald J. Willden, and Business Manager Nicholas R. Dotson. 1. The meeting was called to order at 10:00 A.m. and an invocation was offered by Carl M. Holmes. 2. It was moved by Pat Rimpau, seconded by G. Brent Edwards, and unanimously passed that the minutes of September 3, 1996, be approved. 3. It was moved by Rondo T. Farrer, seconded by Pat Rimpau, and unanimously passed that the bills be approved. 4. It was moved by Rondo T. Farrer, seconded by Pat Rimpau, and unanimously passed that the resignation of Lunch Supervisor, Deanna Bills, be accepted. _ 5. Asbestos removal at the old high school is nearing completion and should be done by the middle of October. 6. Randy Jensen of Tebbs and Smith met with the board and presented the Independent Auditors Report for the 1995-96 school year. The report was reviewed by the board and the district was found to be in good financial condition, and no problems were present. Pat Rimpau moved that the audit report be accepted and that Randy Jensen of Tebbs and Smith be retained to do the audit for next year. The motion was seconded by Rondo T. Farrer, and unanimously passed. It was noted that on page four, one set of figures in the last column titled (memorandum only) was duplicated and they will be corrected. 7. Superintendent Holmes submitted his letter of resignation, effective October 31, 1996, and asked the Board to accept it. He has accepted the Superintendents position of Sevier Valley Technical College in Richfield, effective Novembe- 1, 1996. After discussion and the board thanking Mr. Holmes for his years of service, and a job well done for Beaver County School District, it was moved by Norman L. Lamb, seconded by G. Brent Edwards, and unanimously passed that the resignation beaccepted. Possible replacement procedures discussed, but no action taken at this time. 8. Request of Beaver High F.F.A. to attend the National Convention and for help with funding the trip was discussed. It was moved by G. Brent Edwards, seconded by Rondo T. Farrer, and unanimously passed that the out of state travel be approved. It was then moved by G. Brent Edwards that $300.00 be provided from the district applied technology leadership funds to help with the trip. (All other o G@ INSURANCE , funding has been, or will be, raised by the F.F.A.) The ® State Farm Insurance Companies Home Offices: Bloomington, Illinois motion was seconded by Rondo T. Farrer, and upon a call for a vote on the motion there were four votes iin favorat one against. Motion carried. ; 9. Bids have been let to obtain costs for demolition of the old high school and will be accepted and opened on October 15th at 2:00 P.M. 10. The portable classrooms are all tied down andskirting is now being ‘installed. Final inspection will be done by a state certified inspector next week. 11. It was moved by Pat Rimpau, seconded by Norman L. Lamb, and unanimously passed that the following new hires and volunteers be approved: Belknap- Denise Bradshaw, part time disadvantaged aide. Milford Elementary- Anne Griffiths, full time teacher- Marle Schofield, part time teacher. B.H.S. - Jeremy Williams, full time custodian- - Thane Drill Team Advisors - Betty Jo Hoagland, Cheerleader Advisor - Melissa Wunderlich, Volunteer Cheerleader Advisor - Evelyn Wright, Bus Driver. Susan Patterson, District Food Service Coordinator. 12. ACLU request for information has been completed by the high schools and will be sent. Policy udoption pertaining to clubs will continue to be studied. 13. SEP and SEOP proposed policy was read and discussed. Will work toward adoption. 14. Lamb, and unanimously passed that the board go into closed session at 2:00 P.M. Personnel Discussed. Moved and seconded that regular session resume at 2:30 P.M. 16. A letter was read from the state office commending the efforts of Mr. Willden for the work he is doing in getting the Applied Technology Skill Certification process established in the Beaver School District. As a result of this program $32,112.00 has been generated for use in the district. As students continue to work towards improved performance, the programs will become stronger and students will be better equipped with the knowledge and skills to enter the work force. 17. It was moved by Norman L. Lamb, seconded by G. Brent Edwards, and unanimously passed that the board go into. closed session at 3:10 P.M. _ Personnel Again Discussed. Moved and seconded that regular session resume at 5:05 P.M. 18. It was moved by Rondo T. Parrer, seconded by Norman L. Lamb, and unanimously passed that three weeks of accrued vacation time be paid to Superintendent Holmes. 19. There:being no further business to come before the a board, the meeting was adjourned at 5:20 P.M. _ These minutes will be presented for approval at the next regularly scheduled meeting.
