There were probably prob-ably more shorts to cover than traders to take profits on long holdings, but tho retirement of short contracts was facilitated facili-tated by an adequate supply of stocks from some quarters. Whether the selling sell-ing reported realization or liquidation, the dealings on cither side of the account were very desultory, the most active period of the session being tho first hour, when the list was subjected to some pressure and showed It In moderate declines de-clines from last night's close. A few thousand shares of stock were bought on balance for foreign account, but for the rest the business seemed to be very professional pro-fessional and to originate for the most part on the floor of the exchange. . |
