Show Strike Delays Bridge Work. Myton is putting on more of the airs of metropolitanism every ev-ery day. The latest proof of this is a real, live, up-to-date strike on the bridge work. Just when Supt Hancock thought he had everything going go-ing just right on the bridge work, his plans were completely complete-ly upset by a demand of the men for more money and the decision of them to go on strike to secure their demand. The pa' on this work has been $2.r0 for eight hours. In comparison with the pay on other work around Myton, this is very good and everything was running smoothly until Mr Hancock put a half dozen of his men to mixing concrete last Saturday. They kept at it a half day and, rinding it a rather strenuous form of exercise, exer-cise, they concluded that $2.50 per day would not compensate for the wear and tear on their muscles, so they made n demand de-mand on Supt Hancock for more money. Mr Hancock felt that he was paying as much as he could, and the men quit work being followed by three more of the crew who were ordered to take their placesi Mr Hancock resumed work a few days later with a crew of India nsi |
