Show TRUTH 2 IR$ will Own the town. Preparations for the great street fair and carnival of the Elks are practically completed and the weeks fun and frolic will open on Monday. Nearly half a mile of Salt Lake streets have been closed to traffic for the fair. The booths are in place and the attractions are here and such attractions as never before came to Salt Lake. Elks from all over the West and a good way east are coming and the general public is coming from everywhere. There will be a great time in the old town for the week, but it will be outdone by the National convention Of Elks which will take place in Salt Lake next Bummer. Then we "'ill have 30,000 visitors for about a week who will put into circulation in the various trade channels at least a million dollars. Salt Lake had a hard CAPT.T. F. The delegates who attended the meeting of the grand lodge at Milwaukee last July and successfully won out for Salt Lake are Exalted Ruler Lester D. Freed, Joseph Enzensperger, L. G. Ransolioff, Thomas Homer, A. W. and A. E. Lyon. They were received on their return as conquering heroes for having obtained for Salt Lake the first big convention in her history and placing her on the list of convention cities. Their pictures and brief biographies are given below.. EXALTED RULER FREED. Exalted Ruler Lester Freed is one of the ablest young business men of Salt Lake. He was born In Dardenelle, Ark., June 29, 1875, and spent his there. He was educated In St.boyhood Louis, graduating from the Educational Institute of that city. He came to Salt Lake with his parents years ago and entered Into partnership with his father, as the Freed Furniture and Carpet company, of which Lester is now the manager. He joined the local of Elks on April 12, 1899, and is onelodge of its most energetic members. He was elected Exalted Ruler of Salt Lake lodge No. 85 Ray-bou- ld A |
