Show j. Lightning at Toquerrille. Toquerville, Feb. 7, 1897. Editor Union f Shortly before 3 o'clock on the morning oQthe 6th we were aroused from our slumber by a heavy clap of thunder, accompanied by vivid lightning. The latter paid a visit to the home of Jos. ' Sylvester, coming com-ing down the chimney, going up the stovepipe, flashing around the room and setting the building on fire. The flames were soon extinguished. The oldest boy, Frank, had been sleeping where the lightning passed and which would undoubtedly have killed him, but that his mother had him move his bed that very night, and thus he was spared. The family fell to acknowledge Providence in their deliverance and escape. But little damage was done. Occasional. |
