Show OUR SURROUNDINGS. , . Bloomingioa, Utah, the place l where we are now located, is a young growing village, situated about ' miles in a southwesterly direction from St. George, and although small at present, has a bright iuture before it, and the prospects are, that it will be quite a town, at no distant day. The facilities for gaining a good livelihood live-lihood here is constantly increasing Our soil is fertile and well adapteo to fruit growing and vineyards, better bet-ter than other soils in our vicinity for making Gne flavored fruit. We now have a Broom Factory and Printing Office, and other business enterprises are under contemplation, and in time, the benefi s derived therefrom wi;l doubtless be realized. It requires energy en-ergy and perseverance to accomplish any project, and those who are blessed bless-ed with these, will succeed. On the South, across the Rio Vir-gen Vir-gen river, is situated another smal village called Price, which has beei. settled for some time. The sod is rich and adapted to growing cereals and other crops that grow on heavy land. Peach, Pear and Plum trees would do well. Atkinville is situated in a Southwesterly South-westerly direction from Bloomington. also across the Rio Virgen river We paid this place a visit some time since and was pleased to see the enterprise there displayed. They have planted and now have growing, numerous Cottonwood Cot-tonwood trees, which, in a few years, will furnish them with an abundance of fuel. We were shown jive fences i made with cottonwood and tamerix, and with 3 years growth make a fence good enough to turn almost any animal. ani-mal. Mr. Wm. Atkin, of that place, informed us he purposes having a Park and pleasure grounds soon, and these, in connection wi'h their boating lake, will give pleasure seekers a fine chance to spnd a few days in that vicinity. We aiso had the pleasure of testing the quality of fish contained in the boating lake, and they were excellent, ex-cellent, lor the kind, but we think an improvement could be made by importing im-porting Carp, |
