Show Something to Think Abont Declaration and Resolution By Eugene M. Middleton Murray, Utah, June, 1942. TO MY FELLOW MEN: Everywhere man, fashioned by his Creator to a bounteous life and a great plentitude of joy, is directly direct-ly and indirectly engulfed in the four great curses of sickness, poverty, pov-erty, crime and war, though the scriptures declare to us (Deut. ch. 7) that, when we observe to keep and live the statutes and commandments, com-mandments, and are fully obedient, obedi-ent, as shall not only escape these calamities but enjoy, indeed, their very opposites, namely, affluence, health, security, peace and joy abounding! Nor is just "living a good life" by accepted standards, evils, sufficient. suf-ficient. We all know people who do this, yet become afflicted! Nature Na-ture and life, evidently, demand of man a deeper, profounded and more specific and fuller obedience. Honesty, industryT-Jemperance, etc., are all good yet evidently we must go beyond all these! According to my understanding, (and I believe I interpret correctly), correct-ly), God's Scriptures tell us that in order that there shall be no poverty, sickness, crime, nor war afflicting us, the following things must be done: 1. A "GOLDEN JUBELEE" must be declared, to re-divide the wealth of the world. (Every fifty years and as we, in Britain and America have neglected this important im-portant practice longer than fifty years, social septicemia has already al-ready progressed to the point where we, the people, all of us, 'rich' and 'poor' are having our lives seriously poisoned and afflicted, af-flicted, our security in jeopardy, crime, sickness, etc., fearfully rampant!) This so that EVERY MAN RECEIVES AN ALLOTMENT ALLOT-MENT OP EARTH, EACH FAMILY FAM-ILY A "STAGE," ON INHERITANCE, INHERI-TANCE, which is God's Plan, and man's right. (Micah 4:4). 2. ALL DEBTS TO BE MADE DEBTS OF HONOR; ALL OBLI- ' Continued or- page fovr) Declaration (continued from page one? GATIONS, IF THEY CANNOT BE MET, TO BE CANCELLED AT THE END OF THE SIXTH YEAR. (Deut. 15:2.) What does Jesus teach us? That we forgive one au-other. au-other. 3. GOVERNMENT BANKING SOLELY (for "Jnterest" is forbade. for-bade. (Leviticus 25:36; Ezekial 18:15.) 4. THE GREAT NATURAL RESOURCES RUN BY THE PEOPLE, PEO-PLE, THROUGH THEIR GOVERNMENT. GOV-ERNMENT. PEOPLE SELECED OFFICIALS IN INDUSRY, replacing re-placing arbitrary, onerous, often corrupt rule by bureaucrats, if we will! 5. TAXES TO BE TAKEN ONLY FROM THE SURPLUS OF THE PEOPLE. (Numbers 8-:30.) 8-:30.) A far different plan than the present highly unjust and onerous "Property Tax," causing foreclosure andor forfeiture to thousands of hard-working, des-paring, des-paring, desparate fathers and mothers. DEFINITELY, as Peg-ler Peg-ler says, Tain't RIGHT, the present pre-sent government officials are disposed dis-posed to do NOTHING ABOUT it. Viewed from the negative side, I have seen, and now see, so many really good people becoming engulfed en-gulfed with these great scourges, indirectly and all too often directly direct-ly that I, Eugene Middleton, a young man, starting out, am healthily afraid to not follow and practice these great, God-given remedial principles in my life. And viewed positively, I am thoroughly thor-oughly convinced that, as we exercise ex-ercise faith, courage, and initiative, initia-tive, we actually experience and have great plentitude of abundance, abund-ance, health and joy particularly in addition, (and this is most important too), we live temperately temper-ately on NATURAL, fresh, in-season in-season foods, in our physical life and lead lives of SERVICE to our fellowmen and humanity, in our social lives and economic functions func-tions and activity. I therefore declare my intention to LIVE THESE PRINCIPLES, literally, as an experiment, whatever what-ever other individuals choose to do. |
