Whether you want to participate in some of the new activities scheduled for the building, or simply continue with the already established programs, you are bound to find something to suit your recreation needs. As many oldtimers remember, the Memorial . Building has always been geared to satisfy community needs. Built during World War II, the building served various social functions including ladies groups, senior citizens, veterans, and children. As a large public facility, the Memorial Building received its funding from the county but was used primarily by Park City residents. By strengthening the support of both rural and urban administrators, the Association hopes to be able to send a representative to the State legislature. The benefits of a strong elementary school organization such as the Utah Association of Elementary School Principals, provide members witbupformation on fringe benefits, training programs ;and insurance, Village Coffee Shop relations and serve as a community leader. The Utah Association of Elementary School Principals publishes The Leader which provides administrators with information around the state. Special happenings such as Marsac s Physical Fitness Demonstration Team appear in the niirf'i? teriorpainting. To effect and initiate programs, a volunteer group is being organized. The volunteers will attend training sessions four times monthly and will learn techniques in drug intervention, family counseling, listening skills, values clarification, and legal responsibilities. Volunteers from the High School will provide Big Brother and Sister assistance to Elementary School children. Up to 60 volunteers will participate in various programs. The Rehabilitation program concentrates first on prevention with the idea that if people, especially young people, are given the opportunity to do creative, worthwhile, and fun activities, there isnt the time nor need to get into trouble. To facilitate the prevention aspect of the program, the Memorial Building offers a whole range of supervised activities : from bowling, ping pong, and pool to Saturday night open rap sessions. The idea is to get as many kids as possible to hang out at the Memorial Building. For those individuals needing treatment, the Rehabilitation program provides counseling and is currently setting up an extensive network of professional liasons. In addition, the Memorial Building will maintain its previous community functions. It is open everyday except Tuesday, from 3:30-1- 1 .PM. Suggestions, complaints, and opinions are encouraged. T.V.
