Show NEW TAGK TAKEN There is considerable agitation In the city over the employment of Japs in preference to .white laborers In putting put-ting up tho supply of ice used by tho railroad companies. A petition piotesting against this discrimination has been prepared and Is being circulated among the merchants mer-chants of Ogden, after which it will be presented to the various railroad companies. The form of the petition is as follows: "We, the undersigned business men and citizens, as tax-payers of the city of Ogden. present herewith our protest pro-test against the manner and system you use In employing Jap labor in putting up your Ice hero in Ogden in preference to Amorican or whito labor, when there are hundreds of white laborers who are willing and desirous de-sirous nnd sorely In need nnd require this work. Tho class of labor you hire Is neither profitable nor desirable to the prosperity or welfare of this city, contributing nothing to support or to maintain our govornment whatever. Believing In reciprocity andi recognizing recogniz-ing the fact that your company has received many favors and privileges at the hands pf tho citizens and taxpayers tax-payers of this city in tho past and also the generous patronage and support given your company, compels us to demand the replacing of th above objectionable ob-jectionable labor by white or American Ameri-can labor Immediately." |
