Show T OD NORTH OGDEN iSMAEPOX CASES Because of a threatening epidemic of smallpox in North Ogden the school has been closed, three families have been placed under rigid quarantine and all dogs hao been ordered tied up or killed. The disease has attacked two families fami-lies and almost every person in the place is said to have been in some manner exposed to the contagion. Members of thp Roynolds and the Chatland families became ill with smallpox Saturday. Children of the Brown family slept in the Chatland home on Friday night, occupying the same bed with children who became 111 on the following morning with the disease The children of both tho afflicted af-flicted families attended school Friday Fri-day One of tho Chatland girls, who Is now sick, attended a dance in North Ogden Friday night. So general has been the exposure that County Physician Pidcock has ordered that all communication between be-tween families in the village be stopped stop-ped as far as it Is practical and that no dogs be allowed to run at large, as the animals might spread tho germs of the disease. Dogs found running loose will be shot by the quarantine officers. Whore the afflicted persons contracted con-tracted the disease Is not known. Until Un-til Saturdny, North Ogden was believed be-lieved to be free from smallpox, the last case of the malady being In the Dean family which was released from quarantine and the home fumigated about three weeks ago. |
