Ii appears that t lie child was given to a woman named Kenney, at its birth on account of its illegrtamacy; and that Mrs K. has raised it up to this time without any support from the mother. The child and its adopted mother, and the only m ither it knew, were closely attached to each othor and when the child was taken away it was a very sad scene in the court room. Many declare the judge ment as wrong and contrary to humanity and justice. In our opinion Mrs. Kenney should now sue the mother, Mrs. Hansen, lor the support of the child four years, which amount is justly her due m accord with Boremans decision. If she had no right to the child she 'certainly deserves pay for taking care of it. In t lie J. Mayfield, A. An invuatibn of the Superinlendency, Prof. Giles, now of Sprlng'City, visited the School and rendered some most excellent music, vocal and otherwise. It was indeed a relished treat gladdenThe Meeting house was ing to all. packed with children and friends to music and Sunday School progress. Spring City should, as she no doubt is, piuud that the Prof, is domiciled in her midst, this not to the disparagement of present existing talent, but a true genuine aigumentation of musical ability. A1 icady numerous persons have applied to have the Prof, open Music Schools in several towns, and it is to be hoped the pleasin., exhibition given here last Sunday may induce the Chesterites to the purchase of Organs and other refin-niadjuncts to a complete education. I am not enthused over this Prof, nor his ability, so as to believe this new musical broom to sweep the deck, but I welcome any and all additions to our moral, intellectual, and musical wealth. I am deeply impressed with the skill, ability, and patience (not too well requitof a Prof. ed) Haslet, Smyth, and many otheis of long labor in oyr midst not to feel they too are worthy of a plume. It has become proverbial that progres and essential refinement in this place is the result of a good S. S. and District School under competent teachers such as Soren Christensen and AmasaAldrich The dav of anything would do for .a School Teacher is forever passed. I markedly tender these gents my cordial thanks for the labor preformed here. We cannot all live in a City and have City ways, but we can cultivate ourselves, refine our taste appreciate the noble, the grand the sublime in music etc. as we all did last Sunday.
