During this period of time hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage has been done to utilities private property and municipalities. Residents of Carbon county have an opportunity now to have these rampaging floods checked, if they will only heed their champions, the Soil Conservation Service. This governmental agency has offered to come into the flood areas of Carbon county and establish a soil erosion and conservation district. Its prime objective is to the barren hills which one day were waving hills of grass and; vegetation. They will further divert their efforts to the building of mlnature dams io the large gulleya which have been washed by wild x waters. Any sane thinking person can easily realize what has happened to the grass, if he ftopped to think that for years the grazing lands of Carbon county have been by livestock, without anything being done to give the land a rest. It is true that the livestock industry has been and Is still a very important industry in our county, but if it is to remain so, something has to be done with our ranges and grazing lands. Property owners and land owners will have an opportunity in the near future to vote whether or not they want a demonstration area) established by (the Soil Conservation Service in our flood districts. so act according to your own judgement.
