Show v 'V -i Celebrates Birthday A builder of the Weit. Uncle" lly (Hjrrum) Davis, celebrated his 81st birthday at a party the Cameron Hotel at Pangultch Sat-urdoy, January 10. He was born at Panaca, Nev. Jan. 10 1872, son of Joseph and and Maria Williams Davis. The family moved to Pangultch when Hyrum was 5-j ears-old. .He grew up In the town and gained a reputation as a horse handler, being one of the outatand tng Bronco-Busters of the days before the singing cowboy and commercialized rodeo. But he wac every bit as musical as the colorful Hollywood prototypes of today. Having aung In the choir since the age of seven, and being an outstanding musician with the guitar and piano aa his favorite Instruments. Many of the canals and roada In the Pangultch area bear the rurks of his handiwork. He helped build many of them. In 1894 he married Zane Craig In Pangultch. They had nine children of which four are still living: Lynn and Lyman' Davis of Pangultch; Afton Davis at Tooele, and Ashley Darts at Provo. Uhuematlsm led Hy to leave Pangultch. He went to Pima and Geronlmo In Arizona, and from there Into Old Mexico where he lived for seven years. In 1906 he brought his family back to Pangultch and he opened a shoe repair shop. Zane died on Oct, 19, 1932, and Hyrum married the widowed Mrs. Jane A, LeFevre on March 27, 1934. From 1941 until 1943 Hyrum and Jane worked as ordinance workers at the St. George Temple. The people of Pangultch all wish Uncle Hy a very happy birthday and may he have many more birthdays to enjoy. |
