But when these paths are trod for the length of a life, the difference in elevation attained is very great. It is safe to assume that every normal youth desires success in life, but very few seem to be able to make intelligent preparation for it. One scholar has built a success philosophy upon seventeen basic principles. The first one he says is the most important and can be stated as a definite chief aim in life. I offer this for the consideration of our students as they close the school year 1930-3Has the program of this school year and those which have preceded it for the older students, been inlfluential enough to stimulate within you the creation of a definite chief aim for the future? If it has, the year or years of schooling have been very profitable. Even if the aim were less than your abilities might justify, it will direct your energies and increase your efficiency until the time you might enlarge the vision of your possibilities and again set out for greater achievements. 1. I sincerely trust that the summer time will see you invigorated in body, mind and spirit, refreshed from the labors of the closing school year, and bring you back to this institution or send you forth to higher institutions of learning that you may develop to the maximum of your powers and find yourself In needy service well qualified and amply paid PRES.
