arrived ved only Clerk Bache and Hon F P S Richards at- at attorney attorney at attorney torney for the defendants were in attendance Half an hour later Mr Varian strolled in and soon Mr Dyer and his was sworn and said in reply to Mr Williams Williams-l I was appointed Nov 7 1887 and have been allowed com com- compensation compensation for one year I Inow now desire the fixing of compensation for the year commencing Nov 7 1888 in I October 1888 the Supreme Court entered a final decree and there was a lull in affairs so that there was not much to do in December 1888 1 spent some BOme time looking after a coal mine it had been leased to Mr Robinson by Angus M Can Can- Cannon Can Can- Cannon Cannon non a good many persons came esme to 4 h me to re-lease re it I made a ft d don on Mr Cannon but the lease was good and I only ouy received the t th royalty on the half interest which belonged to the Church I 1 old not 80 know of the lease when the property was first turned over to me me during January l Cl I collected I A ren rents rente eta etc il in February a suit was brought by uan ari ariI I P Carlson Carison and 1 I spent considerable considerable- time in looking up evidence in that tIaM thata a suit which was an attempt to steal so much out of the fund the matter referred to was over 20 years old and it took considerable time to get the evid evidence nce together the writ was tried in March and went against Carlson a good many other little things came up dun during March April and May in June JUDe June the e court met and I mad made a showing Of the property on hand band I was ordered by the Court to loan the money to the banks I received no bidS bids bide I went to see them personally and finally Zions Zion's Savings Bank Hank bor bor- borrowed borrowed borrowed rowed I was several days in making this loan I also made a a- a report to the Court of the condition of the Deseret Telegraph Company's affairs and while the Court made madeno no order the judges jud es told me they had no authority to direct me to transfer the stock I got a report from the Deseret Telegraph see secre- secre tary secretary tary that the line Une was being run at a I loss ORB and I did dial no mor more with the be matter it was guaranteed that the he j not be responsible for debts contracted the secretary gave the report of the company's affairs at my demand I did want to put in a board of directors directors but could not and no DO election has hae yet been beeD eld I hold shares and the re- re remainder re remainder are held by hy different parties in June or July I communicated with t the e court on the subject m I of of sheep shep and arid the court ordered me me meo to meto Idid o advertise them for lease which I did I received bids bide and the court let Jet them requiring bonds it WM was also ordered that if it any bidden failed to give bonds the receiver was ordered to lease as he could less Jess than were taken on the courts court's order find and I leased over to Mr Hunter at the next sitting the court I was told to do the best beat I coul could I had an offer from reliable parties for 22 cents per head end i accepted upon further tion however they declined to take the sheep because of the impending decision of the U US S Supreme Court Couil I was then ordered to herd them which I am now doing since the matter was taken up in June June I have had this matter in hand every day i applications there were a great many and took up most of my my- time Ume during the past year there has baa ha been bee no time when the business did IId- not did require attention I also l leased leased- U the Church farm about which there wu was w considerable negotiation I have abut about in cashin cash in my custody worth of g
