Show nr Mrs. Barbara Rowe Crowned Sweetheart Queen At Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Valentine Ball (Mrs. Barbara Rowe was crowned the 1954 9weetheart Queen of Beta Sigma Phi, Friday evening, (February 12 In the .Eighth ward chapel. In impressive rites and before a huge crowd of Beta Sigma Phi members and partners and invited guests, she received tihe Beta Sigma Phi crown from last year's queen, Mrs. Harold Felt. The Sweetheart attendants were Mrs. Joe Cefalo and iMrs. Mac Young. Mrs. INeil Harper was general chairman of the event, assisted by Mrs. R. K. Daines. Mrs. Harper introduced the queen and attendants and (Mrs. Daines presented each lady with a gift from , the sorority. A fitting climax to the lovely ceremony was the presentation of an orchid to Mrs. Rowe, Mrs. Cefalo and Mrs. Young, by Mrs. Harold Felt ; from Henry Drewes of Drawes IFloral shop. As is customary the formal Sweetheart Ball is arranged by the new pledges to the sorority. This year, working with IMrs. Harper and Mrs. Daines were Mrs. Alice Davis, Mrs. DeAnn iMrs. Doris Stander, Etoeling, Mrs. Lorene Dick and Mrs. Becky Toe vs. The crown bearers were Miss 'Becky Barker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Barker and Master Robert Lichtenstein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Lich : IHimWUMIMIIM' Bets Sigma Phi Sweetheart Queen tenstein. The serving table carried out the Valentine theme with red and white cupids and hearts and lace. Dominating the table was the huge centerpiece of red and white carnations and white stock. Serving were Mrs. J. W. Morris and her daughter, and Karen Lichtenstein, Jane Fredrickson. Patrons of the dance were LeOrande and Mrs. Mayor Dr. and Mrs. Horsley and George A. Boyce of the Intermountain school. The program was under the direction of Mrs. DeAnn Ebel-inMrs. Jean Madsen sang two numbers and Miss Julia Whitney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Whitney danced two ballet selections.
