Show 9 Explorers Tell Old Testament Will ' Describing their trip as Be Taught in Class Here U A class in "The Old Testament, sponsored by the Univer-citof Utah, will be taught In Brigham City library beginning Sept. 30 at 7:30 p. m.. aoording to Dr. Heber C. Snell, Logan, who will teach the class. Pointing out that the Old Testament is one of the subjects taught in LIDS Sunday schools, Dr. Snell said that the university class provides an opportunity for the Instruction of Sunday school teachers in the difficult subject. The class will be a great help to Sunday School teachers enabling them to teach the Old be Testament as it should taught, a policy that should be followed by all offering classes in the Old Testament. The class will meet once a week for two hours through 13 weeks. Members of it may earn three credits of college or graduate credit or need not work for credit if they do not care to. 'Following the Old Testament course, a class In the New Testament will be glVen, beginning the second week s' in January. This course will go through two periods of 13 weeks each and will bring three credits each y "won- derful and inspiring, Explorers Mark and Reese Kunzler and Explorer Leader Carl Olson reported their recent trip to the National Boy Scout Jamboree, in the sacrament meeting in Willard last "Sunday evening. On the trip they visited Mexico, Balboa park, and made a boat trip around San Diego harbor. The boys made friends with many of the attending 55,000 boys. Wilde who presented Jens ,with an Explorer charter for 1953. Mark and Reese were presented Explorer awards that were won by par ticlpating in a certain number of sports at the Jamboree. Members of the Scout troop School from the Intermountain furnished several musical num bers. , Boyce Carlson also attended the Jamboree from Willard. Rites Today at 1 LaValdon C. (Val) Anderson, died last Friday afternoon in an Ogden hospital after a months illness. He was born Feb. 19, 1910 in Bear River City, a son of James L.' and Adeline Andersen Anderson. He'was reared in Bear River City and attended Box Elder county schools. Mr. Anderson married Mary Ellis, Sept. 16, .1931. in the Logan LIDS temple. He had operated a farm at Bear River City and for the past 11 years had worked at the Ogden General Depot. He was an Elder In the Bear River Ward at the time of hjs death. Survivors Include his widow and four sons and daughters: 43, 6 A-2- c LaValdon Anderson Of JamboreeTrip pf City and two brothers and a sister: Lester and Harland Anderson, Mrs. Arnold (Della) Chrisr tensen, all of Bear River City. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (today) at .1 p. m. in the Bear River City ward chapel with Bishop Vernon Johnsen Box Elder NEWS Brigham City, Utah Wednesday, Sept 23. 1953 officiating. Friends may call at the family home this morning prior to services. Interment will be in the Bear River City cemetery.
