On February 21 we had the first snow fall since the first week of January and at this point I dont really know that Im all that pleased about it. Oh, I know were facing the worst year in tistory as far as the lack of water is concerned, ut after the past week and those record ireaking temperatures I was getting already to reet the spring. Why I was even thinking about on my summer tan next weekend. I Starting ' guess that will have to be postponed. The weather is getting stranger every year. It ised to be winter came between November and March, but now fall or Indian summer last until I to know that our Ben Lomond Peak was named by an early Scottish settler after Ben Lomond, in Sterling County, Scotland, a peak that is 3,192 feet high, in Scotland. Actually, our Ben Lomond is 10,900 feet high, topping the original peak by that name some 7,000 feet. Also, the mountain that shelters North Ogden is the largest of three peaks in the world which bear the name Ben Lomond. in j time Scouter and Silver Beaver, also points out that there is a Rocky Lomond Scout troop now. Thorne (seated). w OGDEN NORTH Bishoprics were named in four LDS wards after two wards were split to create a new ward and another ward was organized in the North Ogden Utah Stake. The reorganization took place Feb. 6. The new bishopric of the 4th Ward includes Bishop Ronald Nye, First Counselor N. Richard Holdaway, C. Second Councelor Dale T. Smith, Executive Secretary Richard L. Thorne and Ward Clerk David H. Tingey. . Bishop Nye served as a Deacons Quorum Advisor, Finance Clerk and Elders Quorum President before moving to North Ogden. Since moving to North Ogden, he as has served Marrieds Leader, NATIONAL INTERNATIONAL , Young Second Counselor in the YMMIA Ward Clerk and as Second Counselor. ' He is married to the former Marlene Stock. They have three children. First Counselor Holdaway has served in the YMAP as a counselor and as president of the Elders Quorum. He is married to the former Noreen Gierisch. Thev have three daughters. Second Counselor Dale Theron Smith has served as president of each quorum in the Aaronic Priesthood and as secretary and first m wyords in the Elders Quorum. He has been a Sunday School Teacher and served a mission in the Scottish-Irismission. He is married to the former Jarrilyn Coleman and they have four children. counselor h Executive Secretary Richard Lee Thorne is married to the former Linda Gibbons. They are the parents of two children. Ward Clerk David H. Tingey has served in two Elders Quorums presidencies, as a Sunday School Teacher, Ward Clerk, Sunday School Superintendent, Seventies Group Teacher and Finance Clerk. He served a mission in Taiwan. He is married to the former Rachel Palmer. They have four children. The new bishopric of the newly formed 13th ward includes Bishop Leland R. Erickson, First Counselor J. Wright Shupe, Second Counselor Richard D. Long, Executive Secretary LaMar Youngberg King and Ward Clerk W. Larry Weese. Bishop Erickson resides at 1000 E. 3100 N. He has served two and one half years as Bishop of the North Ogden 5th Ward. Prior to that time he served as Stake Clerk and a member of the High Council. He is married to the former Renee Hein?r and they have four children. First Counselor J. Wright Shupe has served as ward bassador clerk, nigh priest group leader, Elders Quorum President and as a counselor in an Elders Quorum Presidency. He has also served as a counselor in the YMMIA superintendency and as a home teacher. He is married to the former Janneane Halverson. They have seven children. Second Counselor Richard D. Long has served as a high councilman and is a former president of the Seventies He teaches Quorum. seminary at Roy High School. He is the father of five children. The two oldest are now married. Executive Banquet Thursday, Feb. 17. The cub scouts with their parents, pack leaders and special guests, enjoyed a delicious dinner featuring wild game: goose, venison, elk, moose, buffalo and antelope meat, with all the trimmings. The tables were appropriately decorated with dried weeds and lion place card holders. The buffet dinner was prepared under the direction of Larry Roylance, Nancy Lott and Carol Quillen. The letters and some booklets were sent in response to their den writing to each candidate last November.
