Duffin has caught the building fever and i9 erecting a brick dwelling on his lot on upper Main Street. Mayor R. H. Pitohforth spent the fore part of the week in Salt Lake City. There is rejoicing in the household of Charles Johnson over the advent of a baby boy which arrive! on the 5th instant. Messrs. Herbert Niohols and A. R. and Myron Lewis went by auto to Indian In-dian Peak, on Tuesday, to inspect a mining prospect there. Charles Malouf returned 6unda night, after a pleasant visit of three weeks with friends in St. George, also attending the big interscholastic track meet while there. ""sialet into fui. " hef ore 1 What might have proven a fatality occurred last Sunday, at the ranch of J. L. MeGuire, when Mis. McGuire was thrown from a buggy by a fractious frac-tious horse and so badly bruised as to confine her to her bed for some time. Mr. and Mrs. McGuire had driven into the corral and the latter remained in the buggy while her hui-bund began to unhitch the horse. The animal became frightened and began to kirk, and soon demolished not only tbe buggy, but everything else within reach of Kb heels. Mrs. McGuire was thrown out and seriously bruised. Cline and Royer were handling a big bunoh of "dry-larm" prospects this week. A large auto load examined the territory to the north and east on Wednesday. The lastof the Lyceum course entertainments enter-tainments will be given in the High School auditorium, Friday evening May 19th; one of the attractions will be Miss Lucile Rodgers, dramatic reader, late of Wilkes' Stock Com-i pany. This number promises to worthily round out the trio of splendid entertainments of this course Ed Appel, the popular bachelor of Golden Rule fame, has taken unto himself a family, having adopted, recently, re-cently, four little orphans. Ed expects ex-pects his new family to do him credit, if they do not escape and join their ooyote friends in the bills. Last Sunday the base ball teams of High School and Miiford regulars played a rather one-sided game at Sau Pedro Park, the latter winning by a score of ten to one. While the High School boys are cousiderab y smaller and lighter than the members of the Miiford nine, yet they put up a plucky fight and were good losers. The battery for the Bchool team was Wifred Thiessen and Leo White, while Jack Theisaen and Harry Harlzell served for Miiford. Leonard Heard has just returned from a trip to St. George, Panguitch and Parowau. J. L. Hurt, formerly of the local laundry, was in Millord this week, enroute from the East to the Coast. George Searle, who was forced to relinquish his position as master mechanic mech-anic at the local railroad shops, because be-cause of ill health, has returned to his duties after a few months rest in Califoruia. Roy Mack leaves this week for the northern part of the State, to take up jbis ytnaaueLt tciiueuco. Rev. Allison and family left for Beaver Thurday , to remain the balance of the week. Attorney Shirley Atkln attended to legal business in Beaver yesterday. As noted elsewhere, in this isiue the County Board of Equalisation will meet Monday, the 16th instant, in Beaver, to hear any complaints against the assessment of county property. Myron and A. R.
